In my speech last Saturday night at our First Annual Hope for Heroes Harvest Dinner, I mentioned that I truly love going to work every day because I am able to observe courageous clients who are willing to look into the darkness and pain in their lives and come out finding their own light. What I didn’t realize until Saturday was how much our community truly supports what we do! We had 150 people show up and support The Place Within Folsom, our Veterans, and healthy mental health!
The evening was awesome and fun-filled, with people enjoying great food and wine from Back Bistro, beer from Beers in Sac, and music by Hans Anderson. We auctioned off cupcakes from Little Bliss Cakery, Jake’s Desserts and a bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes. Our silent auction items were a big hit and lots of fun.
Not only did people show up, but they gave graciously and with their hearts. With the support of our private donors, our sponsors and businesses who donated items for our silent auction, we were able to exceed our goal to raise $30,000.
This money will allow us to provide free support groups for veterans and for their loved ones who care for them, for free individual counseling for veterans in need, and it will support our expansion which allows us to host 7 support groups, and provide trainings for our therapists.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and know that your support means that more people can access mental health counseling.
